Update on Airport Flood Repairs
The paved portion of runway 30/12 is closed until further notice.
A 1,500 foot x 75 foot portion of the grass runway is now open. Use caution - the surface can be wet and uneven in many areas.
Cross the paved runway only in the marked areas. Use caution for uneven surfaces on the paved area as well as the grassy areas on both sides of the paved runway.
Nutmeg Soaring Association (NSA)
Originally founded in 1956 in Connecticut (Nutmeg is the Connecticut nickname), NSA is looking for enthusiastic new members age 13+.
We are a private, volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to teaching and enjoying the art, science and safety of flying sailplanes.
Many power pilots find soaring not only a challenging diversion but an exceptional opportunity to sharpen their existing skills. We also offer ground and flight instruction for transitioning power pilots.
We are offering;
90-Day Glider Flight Course (April – July), $495
-
3 Month Nutmeg Soaring Club Full Membership.
-
Free ground school classes taught by FAA licenced instructors.
-
Free instructional flights by our FAA licenced instructors.
-
Free 1 Year SSA membership + 12 monthly issues SOARING magazine.
-
Free FAA Flight Training Manual & Syllabus.
-
Free Flight logbook.
And NO, you don't need any previous flying experience to join.
Our FAA licensed instructors will make you feel at home up there in the sky while teaching you the art of flying overlooking the beautiful Catskill mountains.
You can fly as much as you like during the membership period. Again the instructional flights are included, however the same tow-fees do apply as for all regular members.
Our instructors do well with those new to flying, as well as transitioning power pilots.

Freehold Airport is located 0.7 miles west of Freehold, New York 12431 on County Road 67 -- about 30 miles south of Albany, 15 miles northwest of Catskill and 15 miles north of Hunter Mountain
Our airport has a 2275-foot long blacktop runway, with a 600-foot over-run at both ends. Soaring is interesting, since we can soar over the northern Catskill Mountains. Windham High Peak (5 miles south of us) with its 3550-foot elevation generates enough lift to keep us aloft even on days when other area gliding sites are on the ground.
